On Saturday afternoon the ‘Oyster Boys’ came to Eden Park Avenue and left with nothing after a good display from the whole team.
After going 1 behind, we instantly hit back when Humphris curled and delightful effort beyond the diving keeper from 18 yards out. Much to the annoyance of the very vocal travelling Oyster Boys, Humphris celebrate in style in front of them.
The game was mainly stop start until half time, due to the fact the ref was blowing up for every little infringement he saw that many didnt.
The second half continued in the same fashion, Britnell and Al Hassan maintaining control of the midfield and suppling the wide men Fray and Farrell, who in turn were linking up well with Atkins and Humphris.
After some good work down the left, Fray managed to find Humphris just inside the area….and with a bit of magic it was 2 1, with 3 men around him, Humphris managed to tee up a volley which was struck low into the bottom corner.
Whitstable were reduced to ten men and with that came good game management. Still 2 1 wasnt enough, as we broke clear Atkins found himself faced up with a defender as he entered the box, a quick toe ahead on the ball and he was taken down. Penalty. Up steps Atkins to score and secure the 3 points.
A good performance from the squad, which sets us up nicely to visit Glebe on Friday night 3rd November for a league encounter.
