Becks will play their Buildbase FA Vase First Round match against Lancing to a finish when the two sides meet at Eden Park Avenue in a couple of week’s time.

Becks opponents, because of time restrictions regarding the use of their floodlights, wanted the replay kick off time brought forward to 7.15pm. Under the rules of Competition, the official kick off time for all midweek matches is 7.45pm unless the two sides can agree otherwise.

ppIn this case, and in view of potential rush hour delays, Becks could not agree to the earlier kick off time. Becks Secretary, Peter Palmer, talking exclusively to the club’s web site last night commented “it’s very unfortunate that we find ourselves unable to reach an agreement. We need to be at the ground at least an hour and a quarter before kick-off and keeping in mind that very few of our squad are Beckenham based an early kick off would jeopardise our ability to field our strongest side and could lead to a fine if we were late arriving. As much as we like to a be as considerate as possible towards other clubs’ circumstances, nevertheless we must act in the best interest of our own club. Unfortunately, the situation has led to very acrimonious communications being exchanged between the clubs. Frankly, we are particularly upset by certain comments that have been made which we felt to be completely unnecessary in the circumstances”

Becks and their opponents have already met twice in the seasons Emirates FA Cup Competition.
