A BRIDGE TOO FAR ?
Becks, having dusted themselves down from Tuesday night's not too unexpected defeat at the hands of Ryman League Premier Division Harrow Borough, now face up to an uncomfortable fact of Kent League life this season. They don't seem to be able to produce results against the top sides. Odd goal defeats at the hands of Faversham Town (0-1) Erith & Belvedere (1-2) and Hythe Town (0-1) don't leave Saturday's trip to second placed Herne Bay generating as much optimism as usual.
The stats however paint a brighter picture for Becks: whilst Herne Bay are unbeaten in their last 4 League games - Becks are unbeaten in their last 3 three.
Unquestionably, the three points will be of significantly greater importance to the home side as they chase down long-term leaders Faversham Town for that conveted promotion place.
For Becks, perhaps the thought that the paths of these two sides may cross in a two legged League Cup semi Final, will be a sufficient enough incentive for them not to want to hand over too cheaply any psychological advantage they may be able to gain from Saturday's meeting. |
