Millwall Lionesses advanced through to the semi finals of the London cup after a 7-0 victory over lower league side Kent Magpies. Emma Beckett opened the scoring for the lionesses with only eight minutes on the clock with a cool chip over the home side goal keeper. Emma Beckett then turned provider to play in Leah Jones who drove a low effort passed the goal keeper to make it 2-0 with thirteen minutes gone. There was twenty five minutes on the clock when the Lionesses grabbed their third of the game through Dionne Lennon who smashed home from a Leah Jones cross. The fourth came on the half hour when a long ball to Lindsey Morgan was played back across goal for Ann-Marie Heatherson to tap in from close range. Manager Aidan Boxall introduced substitute Lizzie Edwards to replace Lindsey Morgan for the second half. Within minutes of the restart Edwards made her mark with a 25 yard drive to extend the lionesses lead to five. With fifty five minutes played Leah Jones grabbed her second of the game, when she skipped passed three players to curl the ball into the net to make it six without reply. The lionesses final goal came on the hour when a reverse pass by Lauren Phillips was met by the run of Victoria Boardman who coolly slotted home to finish off the rout. Millwall Lionesses now face Charlton Athletic at Beckenham Town on the 14th February in the semi final. Last seasons encounter at the same stage resulted in a penalty shoot out after extra time, the fixture is sure to be a mouth watering tie.
