OFF - BUT IN !!
When the weather claims fixtures it inevitably creates a feeling of anti climax, and the postponement of Becks' eagerly awaited second round tie against Carterton was certainly no exception. The freak weather conditions that brought storms and gale force winds to most parts of the country was always likely to create havoc amongst the non-league fixture list.
The match has now been re-arranged for Tuesday evening (Kick Off 7.45pm) and one hopes that the weather will prove kinder than it did on Saturday.
The effect of Saturday's cancellation is that both Becks and their opponents Carterton will find themselves featuring in Monday's third round draw from F.A. headquarter at Wembley Stadium. It's always hard to judge whether any benefit is gained from knowing one's opponents in the next round before playing, but that's going to be the case for both sides on Tuesday night. If the weather does again play a part in causing a further cancellation on Tuesday night, then the match would roll over onto Saturday (21st).
The club's web site will be covering Monday's draw from Wembley live. This takes places around mid-day. |
