Another grippingly disappointing result for Becks. Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat by Lancing in the First Round of the Buildbase FA Vase added considerable weight to their recent woes.
MISSES PROVE COSTLY
Take nothing away from the visitors: they kept in the game after going behind to a Marvin Alebiosu strike in the 23rd minute and held off some serious pressure from Becks during which first Nathan Palmer and then Hassan Jalloh missed game changing opportunities. Jalloh’s miss proved to be a significant turning point in the match. A few minutes later, Top Catlin put the visitors level on 51 minutes and before Becks had a chance to re-group Catlin pounced again five minutes later to add his second of the afternoon. After Alex Fair added a third goal, It was all that was needed to secure a second-round spot for the visitors who went on to completely dominate the final period of the match.
