Richard Atkins took his league goal tally to 8 last night. In a game where we were 2 – o down to Cray Valley inside 20 minutes, it looked to be a very long night for the Becks. With the 8pm anticipated rain coming just in time for kick off, it looked to have put a dampener on our evening before it even started.

We were without Skipper George Benner through injury, so Atkins was given the armband for the evening and pushed back upfront after a few games in the central midfield. What a decision it proved to be, after the dreadful start we found our way after 30 minutes, Humphris going close with a diving header  and after 40 minutes we were back in the game, Atkins placing a neat header beyond the Cray Keeper.

If we was going to get ourselves back into the game we were going to need a big show of character and fight. And so it was, a cross worked its way out to an unmarked Britnell down the right, his well hit half volley back into the danger zone was expertly finished by Atkins for 2 – 2. With the rain non stop all game the surface was holding up well but it was getting more and more slipperier and that proved to be the helping hand we had worked hard for. Santos and Atkins worked the ball over to Farrell, he picked the ball up and struck towards goal, as the ball hit the surface it flew up and the Cray keeper could only parry away to the on rushing Atkins who was hungry for his 3rd of the night. The 3rd of the night it was, hitting it high into net much to the delight of the barmy army behind the goal!

We made hard work of it but we finally have 3 points back on the board, now we turn our attention to Saturday and the trip to Chatham Town FC. We thank you once again for your fantastic support and look forward to seeing you soon.
