Saturday saw us progress into the 2nd round of this seasons Buildbase FA Vase with a 2 – 0 victory over our competition from Essex. The match itself never really got into gear, both goalkeepers relatively untroubled on an afternoon which saw storm Brian give us a mixture of weather condition to contend with.

After Storm Brian had struck, it was then our turn to strike. Branco always looks deadly from freekick situations and his well hit freekick took a deflection and gave us the lead. We held the lead until half time.

Into the second half and our left hand side was causing Sawbridgeworth all sorts of problems, Branco and Johnson linking up really well getting at the full back constantly. In the end the pressure paid off, as Archie Johnson was in the clear, as he looked up he couldn’t believe his eyes to the see the gap the keeper had left him to slot the ball home.

Sam I’Anson was called upon to push a couple of efforts over, but the back 5 were happy to come away with a clean sheet which we look to build on at Rusthall on Wednesday.

The draw was made earlier today for the next round of the FA Vase and we have been handed an away tie to Sheppey United on Saturday 11th November. This means our fixture with Rochester has been moved to Wednesday 15th November, also our away league fixture at Tunbridge Wells has been scheduled for Tuesday 5th December.
